THE ALLERGIST'S TIP:
Patients with ragweed allergy are usually less symptomatic at the beach. Sea breezes blow pollen inland, and as a result patients are usually less symptomatic at the beach. So head for the beach this weekend!
Oropharyngeal Syndrome can be related to Ragweed allergy. Patients with this Syndrome complain of an itchy mouth and throat from eating cucumbers, bananas, cantelope or watermelon. This is not a food allergy, but a by product of Ragweed allergy. Immunotherapy to Ragweed can treat this problem.
